BLACKCAPS tour of Bangladesh postponed

New Zealand Cricket today confirmed that the Bangladesh Cricket Board have agreed to postpone the two Test BLACKCAPS tour.

The BLACKCAPS visited Bangladesh in October 2010 with the original schedule comprising two Test matches and three One-Day Internationals.

The programme was amended to accommodate five One-Day Internationals ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup with the Test matches pushed back to May/June 2011.

After reviewing the predicted weather conditions a request was made by New Zealand Cricket to shift the matches to 2012.

New Zealand Cricket Chief Executive Justin Vaughan said: “We welcome the decision and believe it is a sensible outcome.

“Bangladesh is extremely hot and humid in May and June with cricket rarely played during that time of year”.

“The option to postpone until 2012, where the cricket calendar is less cluttered, also gives our top players the option to freshen up after a long and intensive period of cricket.

“We are very thankful to the BCB Board and CEO Manzur Ahmed for agreeing to reschedule the two Test series.”
