Bates shines in White Ferns win

A fine double by Suzie Bates helped the White Ferns to a comfortable victory over New Zealand A at Lincoln.

Bates struck 52 as an opening batsman in a stand of 108 with Maria Fahey (48) as her side, batting first, put on 281.

Helen Watson took up the reigns and made an unbeaten 61, with Aimee Mason also contributing 42 off 44 balls.

Bates then took three for nine in just 16 balls as the A side was dismissed for 107.

Sarah Burke claimed two for 17, while Megan Wakefield (30) and Amy Satterthwaite (23) top scored, sharing a third-wicket stand of 36.

The White Ferns take on an Australian Youth XI on Sunday before heading out for the four-team tournament in Chennai.
