Basin Test intriguingly poised

The second National Bank Test is intriguingly poised after the BLACKCAPS ended the day on 66 for four in reply to Sri Lanka’s 268 at the Basin Reserve.

Vettori trapped Prasanna Jayawardene (25) lbw with the last ball before tea, and helped dismiss the tail in the evening session, finishing with figures of three for 53.

Openers (13) and put on 30 before the former was the victim of an unfortunate ricochet off Farheez Maharoof in the 10th over.

How followed six balls later, trapped lbw by Lasith Malinga, and he also claimed the key wicket of Fleming, without scoring, in the 13th, caught behind by Prasanna Jayawardene.

The evening session ended, like the afternoon, with a wicket, as was bowled by Malinga for 17, leaving Sinclair unbeaten on six, the match open and setting up a fascinating weekend’s cricket in Wellington.
