The State Auckland Aces secured first innings points on day three with their total of 430 declared in the match against the State Otago Volts at the Eden Park Outer Oval.
The high score was largely thanks to Martin Guptill and Scott Styris who continued on positively this morning, with their partnership totalling 185.
Styris was bowled out just short of his century for 94. Guptill followed shortly after on 148.
Fast bowler Matthew Harvie was the pick of the Otago attack returning figures of four for 89.
The Auckland bowlers were on target early, getting rid of Aaron Redmond and Greg Todd within the first six overs.
Again it was Craig Cumming who proved to be the rock at the top of the order for Otago, sharing a 100 run partnership with Neil Broom, before being dismissed on 58.
Neil Broom was gone the very next over for 47 when he nicked one behind.
Bad light meant an early finish to the day with Otago on 132 for four, having accumulated a lead of 110 going into day three.
Auckland will be looking for early wickets as they push for an outright victory.
Play will start at 10:00am tomorrow to make up on the overs lost due to bad light with a minimum of 109 overs to be bowled.
