The Auckland Hearts will head into the season’s final round of the one-day Hallyburton Johnstone Shield tomorrow (Sunday, from 10am) with the historic trophy already in the bag.
The Hearts had headed into Today's (Saturday’s) penultimate round needing just one more win to sew up the 2017/18 title, and duly delivered an eight-wicket win over Northern Spirit at Waikato’s St Paul’s Collegiate ground to seal its destination for the winter.

In Oamaru, the Central Hinds meanwhile kept up their winning ways against the Otago Sparks with a 32-run one-day victory to follow up their Women’s T20 side against the same hosts yesterday.
It was the young Central side’s second Hallyburton Johnstone Shield win of the summer, achieving lift-off from the bottom of the points table at Spirit’s expense.

At Wellington’s Karori Park, Wellington Blaze continued to dominate the Canterbury Magicians, a comfortable seven-wicket win elevating them to outright second on the points table but with the trophy already beyond their reach. The teams will move to the Basin Reserve for this Sunday's final round.
