Astle honoured

Former BLACKCAP Nathan Astle has been made a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the Queen's Birthday Honours for services to cricket.

Astle, who retired from international cricket this year, played 81 Tests, scoring 4702 runs at an average of 37.02 with a high score of 222, against England in his home city of Christchurch in 2002.

He made 7090 runs in 233 ODIs, scoring a BLACKCAPS-record 16 hundreds in limited-overs internationals.
