Another worry for Flintoff

England allrounder Andrew Flintoff has more injury woes.

He was hoping to return to the England side for the second Test against Pakistan starting next week but has suffered problems with his left ankle.

He is to see a specialist on Saturday to determine the extent of the injury.

The England and Wales Cricket board issued a statement saying that he experienced discomfort when bowling on the final day of Lancashire's county match with Kent.

The match was intended to be the final test of his readiness to return to international play.

Having bowled 19 overs during the first two days of the game, he managed only two on the last day.

He has missed all of the one-day series against Sri Lanka and the first Test against Pakistan.

His rehabilitation has focused on strengthening the muscle around the joint causing the problem and he has done extensive roadwork.

The ECB said: "Andrew has made good progress with his rehabilitation from an injury to his left ankle.

"He has worked extremely hard and at every stage of the rehabilitation programme has shown improvement."

However, the latest news is a blow to an England team which has struggled without him.
