Another century for Martin Guptill

ROUND FOUR | DAY ONE - Highlights

GUP-TON AT EDEN PARK

Class act Martin Guptill will resume for the Auckland Aces tomorrow on 105* having scored his eighth first-class century for his Domestic side on a rain-truncated opening day of the championship resumption. Bringing up his century off just 137 balls at Eden Park Outer Oval, the Aces will begin day two set up at 172 for one after an unbroken 92-run stand between Guptill and Glenn Phillips (34*) took them to stumps. Earlier, Guptill put on 80 for the first wicket with Jeet Raval after having been sent in by Otago Volts captain Jacob Duffy. Guptill's century is the 16th of his overall first-class career. The match is Otago Volts veteran's 100th first-class appearance for his side.

Bonus Points (in progress): Auckland Aces 0, Otago Volts 0

TICKNER LINES UP FIVE-FA

Central Stags paceman Blair Tickner has a chance of bagging just his second first-class five-wicket-bag tomorrow morning after heading in with figures of 4-40 off 16 when bad light stopped play this evening in Napier. Tickner's maiden five-wicket-bag in the Plunket Shield also came at McLean Park and, while the Stags have already secured the maximum four bowling bonus points after having sent in Northern Districts, a stubborn 88-run stand for the eighth wicket between Scott Kuggeleijn (60) and Ish Sodhi (caught and bowled on 48 by fellow spinner Tom Bruce) saw the visitors fight back in the final session. ND will resume day two at 238 for nine.

Bonus Points (in progress): Central Stags 4 (maximum achieved), Northern Districts 1

ARM-WRESTLE IN RANGIORA

Jimmy Neesham will be keen to kick on for the Wellington Firebirds but risks running out of partners in Rangiora after the visitors went to stumps at 283 for eight. The allrounder will begin day two unbeaten on 31 after Rachin Ravindra (caught on 78) and Michael Bracewell (caught on 87) provided the ballast for the Firebirds' innings, after having been sent in by new Canterbury captain Stephen Murdoch at Mainpower Oval. The wickets were shared by his five-strong attack, Andrew Hazeldine picking up 3-56 off just 12 overs and Fraser Sheat claiming a brace.

Bonus Points (in progress): Canterbury 3, Wellington Firebirds 2
