Aldridge retires

New Zealand Cricket Umpiring Manager Brian Aldridge is retiring after 11 years in the role.

“Brian has made an outstanding contribution to cricket during his time with NZC. Firstly as an experienced and well respected international umpire and then in his role as umpire manager,” NZC CEO Justin Vaughan said.

“Brian has been an exceptional manager and advocate for umpires throughout the country and his passion for the role of umpires has enriched the game in New Zealand.

“Brian is well respected both within New Zealand and also internationally for his service to umpiring.

“He has actively supported the ICC’s development of umpires in the East Asia Pacific region and is well known for the level of service provided to visiting international umpires and referees.

“As a former international umpire with a great knowledge of the role, Brian’s advice and guidance will be greatly missed by NZC,” he said.

Aldridge said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with NZC in this role and have always tried to promote umpires and umpiring and to get the role of umpiring acknowledged and recognised.”
