A team begin Top End series

New Zealand A begin their tour of Australia with a One-Day game against Australia A in Darwin on Wednesday.

The Black XI, led by Peter Fulton, takes on the hosts in the opening Top End series game at the Marrara Stadium.

Fulton will be joined in the team by fellow BLACKCAPS James Marshall, Jamie How and Ross Taylor.

The two New Zealand A squads were welcomed by fine weather in Darwin after their weekend build-up in Cairns was affected by wet weather.

The two planned matches were delayed by rain, and the first of the double-header shortened to a Twenty20 contest.

Jesse Ryder will miss out for the opening game, but could be fit for the One-Day match against Northern Territory on Friday.

Brendon Diamanti and Shanan Stewart are 12th and 13th man respectively.

Brad Haddin will captain the hosts, with Brad Hodge his deputy. Travis Birt has been called up alongside Test caps Phil Jaques, Shaun Tait, Shane Watson and Daniel Cullen.

New Zealand A: Jamie How, Michael Papps, Ross Taylor, Peter Fulton (captain), James Marshall, Peter McGlashan, Nathan McCullum, Warren McSkimming, Mark Gillespie, Graeme Aldridge, Bradley Scott.

Australia A: Brad Haddin (captain), Brad Hodge, Travis Birt, Mark Cosgrove, Daniel Cullen, Brett Dorey, Ben Hilfenhaus, James Hopes, Phil Jaques, Mitchell Johnson, Shaun Tait, Shane Watson.
