It was a statsfest at Satterthwaite Oval (Hagley Oval having been temporarily renamed in honour of Canterbury all-time great Amy Satterthwaite's last two 50-over matches at her home ground, this weekend) as a tight, big-scoring and aggressive contest went down between the Magicians and the Central Hinds.

The Hinds were coming off a solid win against Northern Districts and needed to keep their momentum going to claw their way up from fifth spot on the table.

Magicians first drop Kate Anderson meanwhile continued her red-hot Dream11 Super Smash form with a brilliant unbeaten 141* off 121 balls (14 boundaries) to underpin the Magicians' strong total of 279/8.

The Magicians smashed two of their all-time partnership records in one innings, and the Hinds answered with their record for the fifth wicket.

Powerhouse Jess Watkin burst back into form with the bat, and had looked to be on course for a century of her own before she was caught off Anderson herself on 96.

Watkin's brutal knock had flown off just 77 balls and included 10 boundaries and four sixes.

The Hinds had New Zealand Under 19 World Cup batter Emma McLeod on debut who had shared the Hinds record 141-run stand for the fifth wicket with Watkin - shattering the mark of 112 that had been held since 2007/08 by Aimee Watkin and Zara McWilliams.

McLeod (53) would reach a half century on debut, but after a clump of late wickets just shy of the finish line, would become the penultimate wicket to fall.

The Hinds finished all out for 258, their highest ever total against Canterbury, in the 49th over as the Magicians celebrated a close 22-run victory - and yet another five-wicket bag this season for leg-spinner Sarah Asmussen, who had bagged five in the Super Smash, and now claimed her maiden List A one-day bag of 5-36, McLeod stumped and then Melissa Hansen bowled in her final over of the afternoon to shift the odds back to her team.
