Central Hinds on top with 10-wicket victory

ROUND TWO

Central Hinds v Northern Spirit

Pukekura Park, New Plymouth

18 November 2018

Result: Central Hinds won by 10 wickets

Scorecard

Wet weather saw a delayed start to the second round at New Plymouth’s Pukekura Park but — after an early lunch was taken, and the match reduced to 27 overs a side — it was an action-packed affair with the Central Hinds’ second emphatic victory on the bounce sweeping them to the top end of the table.

Northern Spirit was quickly under the pump, reaching just 97 for nine in their 27 overs.

The Hinds then cruised to a 10-wicket victory with 5.2 overs to spare, collecting their second bonus point of the weekend.

Young Taranaki local Emily Cunningham was unbeaten on 45* with opening partner Natalie Dodd making a big impact over the weekend for her new team with 39*.

The perfect weekend represented a massive turnaround and confidence boost for the youthful Central Hinds, who made a poor start to their Burger King Super Smash campaign the previous month.

Round Three of the Hallyburton Johnstone Shield begins on Saturday December 01.
