Blaze scorches Magicians again

Wellington Blaze did the business under pressure to make it two from two for the weekend against the Canterbury Magicians.

Scorecard

Sent in, Blaze was bowled out for 235 at Karori Park, but it was a sizzling performance with the ball in reply that won them the points.

Canterbury Magician Erin Bermingham (above, file photo) celebrated her 100th match with a haul of 3-29 and Kate Ebrahim had collected 4-44 for the visitors in what had seemed a promising enough first half — Blaze’s total propped up by a gutsy run-a-ball 92 from captain Liz Perry.

But the Magicians would be put under much more severe pressure themselves with the bat, with only two of their batsmen reaching double figures as Blaze bundled them out for just 63 in 23.1 overs — a 172-run bonus point win just what the Blaze had ordered.

Deanna Doughty (above, PHOTOSPORT) starred with the ball, claiming 5-29 and Amelia Kerr taking a startling 4-8 off her 5.1 overs before flying out to Australia for the WHITE FERNS' Rose Bowl series.
