On a day to remember, a ballistic, career-best century made Caitlin Gurrey the new owner of Northern Districts' highest one-day score, in ND's biggest ever total, on the way to ND's biggest ever win.

And, she very nearly knocked off Suzie Bates's national record.

Bates was unbeaten on 183 not out on the day in the 2005/06 season when she set a new milestone in New Zealand women's cricket for the Otago Sparks, and incredibly Gurrey reached 183 exactly before she was finally caught after a stunning display at Bay Oval today.

Gurrey and Northern Districts had been sent in by the Central Hinds on a humid morning, but Gurrey quickly took control en route to her fourth and career-best List A one-day century.

Twenty boundaries and seven sixes later, the aggressive opener was still standing in the 44th over with the Hinds already facing a monumental chase.

Gurrey's ton flew off 113 balls as she put the foot down and busted the previous ND 5th-wicket partnership record to boot, with support from youngster Tash Wakelin's 33.

That partnership record had been held by former ND captain Natalie Dodd who now led the opposing side, in her 150th List A appearance.

But it would not be much of a joyful day for the Hinds who had pace bowler Jess Ogden on debut, while ex-Spark Marina Lamplough made her first appearance for the hosts.

ND powered through their 50 overs to reach a mammoth 318/7, Eimear Richardson enjoying a quick unbeaten 30* off just 17 balls, while spinner Jess Watkin had earlier had the consolation of her 100th Hinds wicket.

Shriya Naidu

Central was never going to get close to that after losing six of their top seven batters for single-figure scores.

In her 50th Hinds match, it was Tomlinson who was left to try to stave off an inevitable defeat with a modicum of respectability.

The veteran top-scored with 61, but a career-best performance by Lucy Boucher had gutted the team around her.

Twice Boucher put herself on an uncoverted hat-trick, going bang-bang in both the seventh and ninth overs. for her best haul of 4-39 off her 10, including one double wicket maiden to get going.

Shriya Naidu (4-52; previous best: 2-29) had got the big early wicket of Natalie Dodd, and then swept in for a four-for herself.

The Hinds tail all fought hard with debutant Ogden left unbeaten on 14* when the final wicket fell in the 43rd over, Richardson putting the finishing touch on ND's biggest ever one-day victory, by a handsome 123 runs.
