When Canterbury captain Laura Hughes won the toss on a humid Auckland Saturday morning, Lea Tahuhu licked her lips.

It was bowling weather and, for new Auckland Hearts captain Prue Catton, not the best toss to lose.

Before long, Catton was one of two early victims for Gabby Sullivan as cricket returned to Eden Park's outer ground, but it was Tahuhu who would go on to devastate the hosts with her first five-wicket bag in the red and black.

Previously the world class pace bowler had taken a one-day bag for the WHITE FERNS and for a South Island List A side, but this was a special day for her Domestic team.

Her figures of 5-24 off 9.2 overs, including two maidens, stood out as the Magicians rolled the Hearts for 136 in 36.3 overs.

Had it not been for a gutsy 64 from veteran Katie Perkins - supported by Bella Armstrong's 22 in a lonely 58-run stand, Canterbury might even have got through the match in time for a result.

But with Hughes and Abigale Gerken cruising at 56/0 in reply after 12 overs, the rain arrived and that was that - points shared.
