Havelock North High School 89/10 (O Campbell 19, T Saunders 5-17, P Golightly 2-8) beat Whangarei Girls' High School (O Lobb 11, O Addis 5-13) by 13 runs.

Havelock North and Whangarei Girls' kicked off day two over at Manawaroa Park on a newly prepared pitch. Havelock North won the toss and chose to bat first, posting a score of 89 all out, Olivia Campbell showing good grit in the middle order with a handy 19 runs. Whangarei Girls' High opening bowler Tia Saunders captured the first five-wicket bag of the tournament with a great spell of her inswing bowling netting five wickets for 17 runs.

Whangarei started their innings strongly, with a good opening partnership. Olivia Addis was brought on to bowl and matched the earlier five-wicket bag with her offspin bowling, and had an excellent spell finishing up with five for 13 from her four overs. Havelock North kept Whangarei Girls' High down to 76/8 off their 20 overs to come away with a good win.


St Hilda’s Collegiate School v Epsom Girls Grammar

St Hilda’s Collegiate School 102/9 (G Heffernan 19, E Black 18, J Patel 4-12, G Adams 2-22) beat Epsom Girls' Grammar (J Tainui 20, E Black 2-7, E Carson 2-5, G Heffernan 2-6) by 18 runs

St Hilda’s Collegiate and Epsom Girls' Grammar began their round three game over on Fitzherbert Park number two. St Hilda’s won the toss and sent EGGS out in to the field. The St Hilda’s opening pair got off to a solid start, Isabella James and Kate Heffernan both making 16. Gemma Adams from EGGS took two crucial wickets (2-22) to slow down the run rate and, with Jayna Patel’s impressive four-wicket haul (4-11), made runs hard to come by for St Hilda’s. However, good middle order batting performances from Georgia Heffernan (19 runs) and Emma Black (18 runs) helped boost the total up to a respectable 102. 

Epsom Girls' Jayda Tainui helped get the run chase underway with a quick 20 runs to her name and was supported by Bella Armstrong (14 runs) however good bowling from St Hilda’s Emma Black (2-7) and Eden Carson (2-5) made the chase difficult for EGGS who lost wickets regularly. St Hilda’s defended their total to win by 18 runs.

Tawa College v Villa Maria College

Tawa College 118/2 (A Kerr 54*, R Thuraisingham 24, R Davidson 1-12) beat Villa Maria College 89/9 (O McGoverne 25, G Sullivan 19, P Williams 2-15, A Kerr 2-5, R Thuraisingham 4-8) by 29 runs

Tawa College and Villa Maria College took each other on at the number one Fitzherbert Park pitch. Tawa College won the toss and decided to bat first. There were impressive knocks from Amelia Kerr (54 not out), who took the honour of the first fifty of the tournament, and Roshani Thuraisingham who supported with 24 runs.

Tawa had put up a total of 118/2 from their 20 overs while Villa Maria’s opening pair put on a good opening stand of 53 in reply, Olivia McGoverne scoring 25 runs and Gabrielle Sullivan contributing with 19. A strong display with the ball from Roshani Thuraisingham, with a remarkable four wickets for eight runs, kept the run rate down. Phoenix Williams and Amelia Kerr also contributed with the ball with two wickets each to restrict Villa Maria to 89 from their 20 overs, allowing Tawa to come away with a 29-run win.

Tawa College v Havelock North High School


Havelock North High School 92/6 (O Addis 44, N Taylor 23, R Thuraisingham 3-12) lost to Tawa College 95/0 (A Kerr 46*, M Mason-Jones 39*) by 10 wickets

Tawa College and Havelock North High School headed over to Manawaroa Park for their fourth round games in the afternoon. Havelock North won the toss and decided to bat. A wicket with no runs on the board brought Olivia Addis to the crease, who top-scored for her side with a solid 44. Captain Natalya also contributed with the bat with a quickfire 23 runs from 20 balls.

Roshani Thuraisingham bowled well for Tawa, picking up three wickets for 12 runs from her three overs to help keep Havelock North’s score to 92. Tawa set off on their run-chase strongly with both opening batters showing class out in the middle and not losing their wicket. Amelia Kerr was unbeaten with 46 and Makayla Mason-Jones 39 not out to help lead their team to victory by 10 wickets.

Villa Maria College v St Hilda’s Collegiate

St Hilda’s Collegiate 140/2 (K Heffernan 50*, G Heffernan 51*, G Sullivan 1-10) beat Villa Maria College 83 all out (O McGoverne 21, G Sullivan 24, E Black 2-15, K Heffernan 2-15, G Heffernan 2-7) by 57 runs

Villa Maria College and St Hilda’s Collegiate met in their round 4 game over on pitch number two at Fitzherbert Park. St Hilda’s were sent in to bat and scored 140 from their 20 overs. St Hilda’s twin sisters Kate Heffernan (50 not out) and Georgia Heffernan (51 not) helped their team get to a defendable total. A Highlight from Villa Maria’s bowling was Gabrielle Sullivan taking one wicket for 10 runs. 

A good, aggressive start from opening pair Olivia McGoverne (21 runs) and Gabrielle Sullivan (24 runs) got them off to a good start, but wickets begin to fall as the twins also proved double trouble with the ball, Kate and Georgia Heffernan both taking two wickets each, along with Emma Black (2-15). St Hilda’s double act from the Heffernan sisters helped their side to a 57-run victory.

Epsom Girls' Grammar v Whangarei Girls' High School


Epsom Girls' Grammar 127/3 (J Tainui 33, B Armstrong 27, C Crooks 19*, O Potter 2-22) beat Whangarei Girls' High School 81/8 (O Lobb 25, J Patel 3-15, J Tainui 2-12, E Rogan 2-12) by 46 runs

Epsom Girls' Grammar and Whangarei Girls' High School faced each other on the number one at Fitzherbert Park this afternoon. EGGS won the toss and chose to bat, and had a strong start to their innings with Jayda Tainui (33 runs) building some good partnerships around her, with Bella Armstrong (27 runs) and Claire Crooks (19 not out). Olivia Potter was Whangarei Girls' standout performer with the ball, taking two wickets for 22 runs.

Chasing 127 to win, Whangarei went into bat, Captain Olivia Lobb leading from the front with a crucial 25 runs. However, wickets began to fall around her regularly in the face of accurate bowling from Epsom Girls' Jayna Patel, who took three wickets for 15 runs, and Jayda Tainui and Ede Rogan’s two wickets apiece, helping their side to a 46-run win.
