Christchurch Boys’ High School and Hutt International Boys’ High School played their Secondary School Boys’ First XI Cup match on Bert Sutcliffe Oval, where Hutt International batted first.

After having lost two early wickets, Hutt International’s middle order batted well through Akshar Patel with 41 runs and Rachin Ravindra with 32 runs.

Further contributions down the batting line-up helped Hutt International reach 188 runs from their 50 overs.

Fraser Sheat had another good day with the ball, picking up 3-36 for Christchurch Boys’.

Christchurch Boys’ had a good start to their chase, opening batsmen Sandy Heard making 42 runs and number three batsman Will Jordan top-scoring with 46.

They had looked to be on track for the win, but some crucial wickets by Rachin Ravindra and great bowling by Simpson (3-30) pulled Christchurch Boys’ right back into it and levelled the game.

Christchurch Boys’ had the score all tied with two balls remaining, when Caleb Hewson took the all-important wickets and sent the match to a Super Over finish!

Ben Sears bowled for Hutt International in the Super Over and took a stunning two wickets in the first two balls, leaving captain Troy Johnson to hit the winning runs for his Hutt International XI in a dramatic and memorable finish.
