Yousuf shines in draw

A timely 191 from Mohammad Yousuf has guided Pakistan to a draw with the West Indies on the final day of the second Test at Multan.

Having been dismissed for 192 in the first Test of the series, Yousuf looked poised to go one further and compile a double-century as he set about dismantling the West Indian bowling attack.

However, after being dropped on 108 and surviving several close lbw appeals, the Pakistani batsman agonisingly holed out to Shivnarine Chanderpaul to fall eight runs short of the elusive milestone.

Starting the day on 213-2, the hosts lost three early wickets as they scratched out 95 runs in the morning session.

With the score on 243, Imran Farhat was the first to go after setting off on a futile run which resulted in his dismissal for 76.

Inzamam-ul-Haq then followed shortly after on 10 before Shoaib Malik was bowled by Daren Powell for four just prior to the lunch break.

Needing a strong partnership following the interval to avoid a loss, Yousuf combined with Abdul Rassaq in a stand of 113 to put any faint West Indian hopes to rest and ensure a draw.
