Women's National Development Tournament: Day 4

Central Districts gained their first win of the 2006 Women's National Development Tournament despite heavy rain at Lincoln.

CD defeated Otago by seven wickets to earn a bonus point, but the matches between Canterbury and Wellington and Northern Districts and Auckland were abandoned.

Otago won the toss and batted first, and was dismissed in the 31st over for 67, with only opener Andrea Bell with 16 and tail ender Josie Young (15) getting double figures.

Sonya Thompson took five for 29 off 10 overs, and Laura Pascall went for just 12 runs from 10 overs, taking one wicket.

CD cruised to victory in 13.2 overs, with captain Andrea Stockwell unbeaten on 35.

Table-topping Wellington and Canterbury met, where the holders won the toss and batted.

Wellington captain and off spinner Lucy Doolan did the damage with 3/6 off 10 overs, assisted by left armer Sian Ruck (3/42) as Canterbury was dismissed for 148.

When the rain came, Wellington was 43/0 with Doolan unbeaten on 36.

At the BSO, Northern Districts won the toss and batted. Holly Huddleston was in the runs again with 39, captain and wicket- keeper Jeanette Ulyett scored 40 and 14-year-old opener Natalie Dodd made an undefeated 58 as her team posted 189 in 48 overs.

Auckland medium pace bowler Sandee Hui bowled well and finished with 3/27 and Katie Perkins took 2/23, with their team’s reply at 20 for two after 8.2 overs when rain halted play.

Otago 67 (Sonya Thompson 5/29) lost to Central Districts 69/3 (Andrea Stockwell 35*) by 7 wickets

Canterbury 148 (Emma Campbell 34, Sian Ruck 3/42, Lucy Doolan 3/6) met Wellington 43/0 (Lucy Doolan 36*) - match abandoned

Northern Districts 189 (Natalie Dodd 58*, Holly Huddleston 39, Jeanette Ullyett 40, Sandee Hui 3/27) met Auckland 20/2 - match abandoned
