The White Ferns will host the West Indies in three One Day Internationals (ODI) and five Twenty20s this summer, with the schedule for the tour announced today.
The series begins with the West Indies facing the Auckland Hearts in a warm-up match on 23 February in Auckland, before shifting to the Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Christchurch for the ODIs three days later.
Queens Park in Invercargill will host the first three Twenty20 matches, before Queenstown Events Centre closes out the tour with the final two fixtures.
The home series will follow the White Ferns tour to the West Indies in October where they will face the hosts in three ODIs, before England join the two sides in a Twenty20 Tri-Series.
Preparation is well underway for the tour, with the 14 player squad currently in Maroochydore in Queensland for a camp. White Ferns Coach Katrina Keenan believes the trip will play a significant role in the team’s build-up to the summer.
“We’ve been really pleased with how hard the girls have worked over the winter, particularly on their fitness,” says Keenan.
“It’s important we continue to make strides forward and being able to train on quality wickets at this time of year is ideal preparation for us.
“We’re excited about the coming summer of cricket.”
