New Zealand’s WHITE FERNS are ready to open a tantalising summer in which they will host Sri Lanka in a series for the first time, take on world champions Australia for the historic Rose Bowl, and seek to win the World Twenty20 crown.
Imminent is the series of five One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals against the visiting Sri Lankans, the first three ODIs carrying IWC (ICC International Women’s Championship) points that count towards qualification for the 2017 ICC Women’s World Cup.
Preparation for the series, which will take in Lincoln, Christchurch and Nelson, begins in earnest at Lincoln’s Bert Sutcliffe Oval today, where the WHITE FERNS are playing a one-day warm-up match against New Zealand A Women from 10.30am.
New Zealand A then take on Sri Lanka on Sunday, ahead of the historic first ODI between the WHITE FERNS and Sri Lanka at the same venue on Tuesday.
