Wellington on top after day two at Provincial A

Wellington became the only team to remain undefeated on day two of the Provincial A tournament at the New Zealand Cricket High Performance Centre in Lincoln. Having seen off Canterbury yesterday, Wellington posted a 93 run bonus point win over Central Districts to go top of the table on ten points.

Canterbury and Auckland also picked up victories, with the hosts beating southern rivals Otago by six wickets and Auckland getting on the board with a 42 run win over neighbours Northern Districts.

The batting performance of the day once again came from Wellington, who made 300 for five in their 50 overs. Josh Brodie followed his 95 up yesterday with 110 at the top of the innings and is currently the leading run-scorer at the tournament.

Canterbury’s Keryn Ambler had the top individual score of the day though, making an unbeaten 123 against Otago to see his side home chasing 215.

Andrew Lamb remains the top wicket-taker at the end of the second round, having taken three wickets today to take his overall tally to seven. Wellington’s Barry Rhodes was the only player to take four scalps today, with his eight overs going for 29 runs.
