Volts v Scorchers
After their round one match versus the Mumbai Indians was abandoned, the Volts picked up where they left off against the Perth Scorchers in Jaipur last night. Opener Neil Broom clobbered 117 from just 56 balls including nine fours and 8 sixes, remarkable considering he faced 14 dot balls, especially early on when he lost partners quickly.
Broom helped the Volts reach the highest team score in the Champions League T20 of 242. In the second innings, Ian Butler immediately rocked Perth back with two quick wickets and a run out. He finished with three scalps, as the Volts restricted the Scorchers to 180 to take the win. It extends the Volts' winning stretch to 14, and should fill them for confidence for the rest of the tournament.
Qualifier three
The McCullum brothers starred as the Volts registered a stirring five wicket win over their toughest opposition yet at the Champions League T20. Tight bowling restricted the Sunrisers to a gettable 143, with Nathan McCullum giving up just 23 runs for two wickets from his four overs, with Brendon McCullum (67) and Hamish Rutherford (27) leading the charge.
The southern men made it home with 22 balls to spare, and carry hot form and real momentum into the main draw, and should be confident taking on any side they meet. Next up are the IPL's Mumbai Indians in the early hours of Tuesday morning NZ time.
Qualifier two
The Otago Volts have qualified for the main draw of Champions League Twenty20 with a six wicket win over Kandurata Maroon. With the Volts chasing 155, classy import Ryan ten Doeschate jumped off a plane to smack a 32-ball 64, on the way to a solid win.
The Volts will meet fellow qualifiers Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday night NZ time, before taking on the powerful Mumbai Indians in the league proper on 23 September.
A captain's knock from Brendon McCullum helped the Otago Volts to an 8 wicket win against Faisalabad Wolves in Qualifier One, putting them in a strong position to progress to the tournament's main draw. Tight bowling restricted the Wolves to 139, with star batsman Misbah-ul-Haq top scoring with 46. While in reply McCullum, de Boorder (30) and Hamish Rutherford (25) got the Volts home. Their next match is against Kandurata Maroons this evening (18 September).

When the Otago Volts lifted the HRV Twenty 20 back in January, they took the honour of representing New Zealand at Champions League Twenty20, a tournament that brings together the best Twenty20 club and domestic teams from around the world, being hosted in India this month.

If they can carry this form into the tournament, they'll be well positioned to challenge.
