Sri Lanka has resoundingly beaten South Africa by 94 runs to win game three of the VB Series while also claiming a bonus point.
The Proteas never got to grips with a tough run chase under the Gabba lights after their top order had been reduced to 92-4.
Only Jacques Rudolph (53) and Mark Boucher (62) made any impression thanks to some pinpoint bowling from the Sri Lankan attack - notably Chaminda Vaas (2-21) and Muttiah Muralitharan (2-34).
Super sub Malinga Bandara also returned his best career bowling figures of 3-31.
Earlier, half-centuries from Jehan Mubarak and Kumar Sangakkara provided the cornerstone for Sri Lanka's imposing total of 282-6 in 50 overs.
Mubarak (61 off 69 balls) and Sangakkara (88 off 109 balls) shared a 111-run second-wicket partnership taking apart a depleted South African bowling attack already missing Makhaya Ntini, Andre Nel and Charl Langeveldt and from which Jacques Kallis withdrew on the eve of the match.
Captain Marvan Atapattu also added 33 from 43 deliveries before misjudging a quick single and being easily run out by Herschelle Gibbs.
Mubarak had twice been dropped by South African fielders before tallying his highest one-day international score in his 11th innings in an error-strewn day from the Proteas.
In reply, Graeme Smith (3), Boeta Dippenaar (10) and Gibbs (7) were all back in the pavilion early with only super sub Jacques Rudolph offering any resistance, tabling his seventh one-day international half-century.
But when he was involved in the second calamitous run out of the innings, the South African effort looked doomed.
His dismissal was an exact replica of the way Gibbs was sent packing when he and Rudolph were both left stranded at one end attempting a second run in the first embarrassing mix-up.
Before that, Smith had been adjudged lbw off the bowling off Vaas, six runs short of 3000 in ODIs.
Dippenaar followed his captain soon after, clean bowled by Nuwan Kulasekara in his opening over.
Ashwell Prince (29) holed out to Kulasekara at deep mid-on before Justin Kemp (10) followed suit, both off the bowling of Bandara.
Big-hitting Kemp came to the crease with the required scoring rate above eight an over but struggled top make a dent in the deficit with Muralitharan tying up the Stanley Street end.
And despite Boucher making his 17th one-day international 50, his runs were in vain as South Africa's run chase evaporated.
