Sri Lanka close on BLACKCAPS

Sri Lanka’s emphatic One-Day International series victory over England has put them within striking distance of the BLACKCAPS in the ICC’s ODI Rankings table.

The BLACKCAPS stay fourth in the table, although Sri Lanka can strengthen its ratings points haul with a triangular series win over India and South Africa.

Third-placed Pakistan could also bolster its own position with a series triumph over the English.

The BLACKCAPS’ next ODI action comes in the ICC Champions Trophy, followed by the visit of the Sri Lankans to New Zealand.

England has now won just five of its last 19 ODIs, with successive series losses to Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka, at a cost of 12 ratings points.

The contrast with the buoyant Sri Lankans could not be greater.

Mahela Jayawardene’s side has gained four ratings points through its run of wins and although it has not improved on its sixth position, it is now just two points short of fifth-placed India.
