South Africa seals series

South Africa recovered from another disastrous start when batting first to take another win out of India in the fourth One-Day International at Port Elizabeth on Wednesday (SA time).

South Africa scored 243-8 and India was dismissed for 163 in the 39th over. It has a 3-0 lead in the series with one game left.

After losing both openers Graeme Smith and Loots Bosman for ducks, South Africa recovered, initially as the result of 49 scored by Jacques Kallis and then from an unbeaten 93 off 123 balls by Herschelle Gibbs.

There were times during the innings when South Africa looked like getting further away but controlled bowling results in wickets continually being picked off with Irfan Pathan (0-28 off seven overs) and Anil Kumble (2-42) especially effective.
Mark Boucher came to light with 29 from 49 balls and Shaun Pollock hit 37 from 43 balls before he was run out.

But after surviving at the top of its order, India disintegrated losing wickets at 22, 24, 38 and 39, including Virender Sehwag for 18 and Sachin Tendulkar for one.

Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals and it was only Pathan's 55-ball 47 that sustained the game until the 39th over, at which point his last batting partner S Sreesanth was dismissed.

Pollock was superb in taking 2-23 from 10 overs while Makhaya Ntini took 2-34 from nine overs while Justin Kemp swept through the tail to take 3-21 from 4.1 overs.
