Six teams to compete for ActivePost Cup and Shield

The national primary school competitions have been a major part of New Zealand Cricket’s junior cricket development since their inception in 2000. This, year, the 14th edition of the competition, will be the first time that ActivePost will be sponsoring the national primary finals. It is also the first year that each of the Major Associations will be represented at the finals, moving from four team finals in previous years to having six finalists compete this year.

Played over the school year, schools compete within each of the six Major Cricket Associations, playing regional finals to determine their winners, who then go on to represent their Major Association at the finals.

In the ActivePost Cup Tauranga Intermediate are returning to defend last year’s title while Heaton Normal Intermediate return to the ActivePost Shield to defend their title.

The six finalists in each of the competitions meet in Palmerston North on November 27, 28 and 29 at Ongley and Manawaroa Parks, with the opening beginning on Wednesday at 12.30pm and the first matches starting at 1.30pm.
