The BLACKCAPS have secured the Tri Series with a game to spare in Dublin.

Santner leads Kiwi charge up ICC rankings

Following his match winning performance in game one of the Irish Tri Series and a haul of seven wickets in three games, BLACKCAPS spinner Mitchell Santner has risen to a career best 11th place in the ICC ODI bowling rankings.

The laid back 25-year-old claimed his first career five wicket bag in game one against Ireland and has moved up six places on the latest rankings to sit just outside of the top 10.

It caps a successful run for the talented all-rounder who’s already racked up 35 ODIs since debuting for the BLACKCAPS in 2015.

Santner’s also attained a career-best ranking in batting, gaining 11 places to reach 95th position after aggregating 26 runs in three unbeaten innings.

Further up that batting list is interim BLACKCAPS captain Tom Latham, who’s third ODI century in game three took him to a total of 173 runs for the series and a new ranking of 41st.

Experienced Otago right hander Neil Broom’s moved up 25 places to be rated the 29th best ODI batsmen in the world, following a consistent run of scores in Ireland.

The BLACKCAPS three wins from three games in Dublin has seen them climb a point on the ODI team’s rating list, leaving them one point behind India who are in third place on 117 points.

The final game of the ODI Tri Series is against Bangladesh in Clontarf on Wednesday (9:45pm NZT).

The BLACKCAPS will then relocate to London ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy, with their first assignment being a warm-up game against current title holders India at the Oval on Sunday May 28.
