Sachin back in frame

Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar is set to resume training this week after recovering from the shoulder surgery he underwent five weeks ago.

The Indian Cricket Board confirmed on Wednesday that the Indian legend is making inroads into his international return, with the four-Test series against the West Indies starting June 2 not out of the realms for a comeback.

"Sachin will commence light batting drills within the week," the board said in a statement.

"Today Sachin underwent an examination and reassessment of his condition and his rehabilitation program."

The 33-year-old batsman, who has made 10,469 Test runs at 55.39, has been plagued by injuries in recent times, the latest setback for the veteran attributed to a high workload.
