Ryder and Bracewell fined for misconduct

Jesse Ryder and Doug Bracewell have been fined for misconduct following a late night episode on the eve of the first ANZ Test against India in Auckland.

The two squad members were out drinking until 3am the morning of the match.

New Zealand Head of Cricket Operations Lindsay Crocker says the players have accepted a charge of misconduct and have been fined in line with the terms and conditions of their individual player agreements. The amount of the fine remains confidential.

Crocker says by far the biggest consequence for the pair will be the damage caused to their relationship with the BLACKCAPS selectors - Head Coach Mike Hesson and General Manager National Selection Bruce Edgar.

“The New Zealand selectors place great emphasis on qualities such as personal responsibility, trustworthiness and dependability – and will continue to do so with our encouragement.

“All players in contention for the BLACKCAPS need to satisfy the selectors of their commitment to prepare conscientiously for international fixtures.”

The BLACKCAPS squad for the second Test against India in Wellington will be named later today.
