The English summer played havoc with English county cricket over the weekend, with many matches interrupted or abandoned.
Some of the New Zealanders were able to make it over the rope and get some play in the Royal London one day competition. Kane Williamson was in action with the Yorkshire Vikings, but was unable to make an impression in their five-wicket loss to Jesse Ryder's Essex. Jesse didn't bowl but scored 36 from 27 batting at five - his Essex and Otago team mate Ryan ten Doeschate scored a rollicking 119 from 101 balls.
Mitchell McClenaghan was also able to play, taking 1-52 from 10 overs in Worcestershire's seven-wicket win over the Lancashire Lightning.
Neil Wagner has touched down at Northants, where he will play the remainder of the season - he's raring to get into county cricket and the seamer-friendly conditions there.
In the Caribbean Premier League, all four New Zealanders will be in semifinal action, in a bid to meet the Barbados Tridents in Sunday's (NZ time) final.
Daniel Vettori's Jamaica Tallawahs will play Ross Taylor's Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel in St Kitts on Thursday, with the winner facing Jimmy Neesham and Martin Guptill's Amazon Warriors in the second semi final on Friday.
All players were in the action over the weekend, with Vettori recording figures of 2-22 in the Tallawah's loss to Barbados. Guptill had a stormer in the Amazon Warrior's eight wicket win against the St Lucia Zouks, scoring 66 from 47 balls, and producing this spectacular grab on the rope to dismiss Kevin Pieterson.
Neesham was in some fairly unintended Twitter action with his Twitpic of Amazon Warriors team mate Lendl Simmons' bat that had been aerated by US Customs, creating creative Twitter chat and making headlines around the world. Great story but, like Jimmy said, it wasn't his bat(!).
