Australian skipper Ricky Ponting has urged the green and gold army to snap up the Ashes tickets that go on sale June 1 and give his side a boost as they attempt to reclaim the famous urn.
With under one day to go until the tickets go on sale for the highly-anticipated Test series between Ponting's men and England, the world's best batsmen joined the marketing pitch by declaring that the clash will be the 'biggest' in the history of cricket in the Australian summer.
"The Australian team can't wait for this Ashes series to start and having a sea of green and gold supporters in the stand will give us a massive boost," he said.
"Make sure you get in early on June 1 and we'll see you during the biggest ever summer of Australian cricket."
With England's surprise 2-1 Ashes victory in England last year, the hype that surrounds the tourists arrival ahead of the first Test in Brisbane has reached unprecedented levels.
Cricket Australia chief James Sutherland has no doubt that the tickets for the Test matches will disappear quickly on Thursday.
"This is the moment Australians have been waiting for. Australian cricket fans in their thousands will be hitting the phones and going online to secure their tickets for the 2006-07 international season," he said.
"Tickets to 41 days of absorbing international cricket will initially be on offer to registered members of the Australian Cricket Family."
Tickets for the general public and international cricket fans will not go on sale until June 19.
However, reports have emerged that the Barmy Army has infiltrated the CA Family and will be making its own bid for tickets.
The English supporters group is hoping to have 15,000 fans in Sydney for the Test match there.
