The excitement is building up a head of this Sunday’s HRV Cup final between The Central Stags and Auckland Aces at Pukekura Park. The Stags come into the final with seven wins and three losses while the Aces have six wins and four losses.

History

The two teams have squared off twice during the HRV Cup, with the Aces coming out on top both times. The first game in the fourth round of the competition saw the Aces win by seven wickets while the last game in the seventh round came down to the last ball, with the Aces winning  by one run.

The calm and collected BLACKCAPS batsman hit 31 off 27 which included 1 four and three sixes against the Aces in the last match up. He can win a game on his own.

Mathew Sinclair

The Stags batsman is out to prove he’s got what it takes to play the shortest form of the game at the highest level. He got 69 off 54 with 10 fours in the first game against the Aces and went on to make 50 off 38 with seven fours and a six in the latest game.

Jacob Oram

The talented all-rounder has been a force with the ball this season taking 15 wickets for the Stags. He also contributes with the bat and has a big match temperament.

Daryl Tuffey

Ace’s bowler Daryl Tuffey spearheads the bowling attack. He has taken 2/25 off four overs in each of the games against the Stags this season. He is also handy with the bat down the order and is capable of some big hitting.

Scott Styris

Syris has been the Aces most consistent performer and this is reflected in his Mitre10 MVP ranking.  He is currently in second spot and likely to overtake leader Daniel Vettori during the final. In the first game against the Stags Styris scored 45* off 36 including three fours and two sixes.

Lou Vincent

The big hitting opener scored an unbeaten 105 as well as two half century already this year.  His energetic fielding and all round enthusiasm is also an asset to the Aces.
