Pakistan eases home

Younis Khan and Imran Farhat have helped Pakistan clinch an eight-wicket victory over Sri Lanka on the third day of the second Test in Kandy.

Both batsmen notched up half-centuries as Pakistan easily reached its target of 183 after 28 wickets had fallen on the first two days.

The victory also hands Pakistan the series win after the first Test was drawn last week.

Khan scored a commanding unbeaten 73 from just 98 balls, including 12 boundaries, while Farhat knocked 65 runs before he was caught by Mahela Jayawardene off Nuwan Kulasekara.

The pair combined for a second-wicket stand of 114 after Kamran Akmal was dismissed for 24.

Sri Lanka was earlier bowled out on the first ball of the day for a dismal 73 from 24.5 overs, its second lowest total against Pakistan.

The hosts' hopes were hampered further by Sanath Jayasuriya's inability to take to the crease for the second innings of his farewell test, despite taking painkillers after dislocating his right thumb.

Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq finished with 4-20 from 6.5 overs and man of the match Mohammad Asif finished with match figures of 11-71.
