Incoming Volts coach Vaughn Johnson has recently confirmed his selectors and selection processes for the2011-12 season. The two Volts selectors will be James Lovelock and Vaughn. Lovelock will be selection manager.
Ross Dykes will be an advisor to the selection panel while Lindsay Breen & Andy Sainsbury (Otago Country), Kevin Cooper & Steve Jackson (Southland), Duncan Drew (North Otago) and Corey O’Leary (Dunedin) will be District Scouts. The selectors will communicate with the District Scouts on a weekly basis.
Volts coach Vaughn Johnson said that “he was delighted to have someone with the cricketing experience, general nous and communication skills of James Lovelock on board as selection manager. Johnson added that having Ross Dykes with 15 years’ experience as a national selector on board as an advisor was a bit of a no brainer and adds a lot to the selection set up”.
District Scouts will have an important role in monitoring local club cricket as well as Hawke Cup and feeding information into the selectors to make sure that there is good knowledge of all players of interest.
