NZ A complete successful tour

The rain hampered third Test between Sri Lanka A and New Zealand A may have been a disappointing way to end the tour, but the New Zealanders still returned home with some satisfying results.

At the top of the list was the Test series victory. The 1-0 result was pleasing, particularly because of the many individual performances that contributed to it. was the chief destroyer for the New Zealanders, claiming 16 wickets from the first two matches, while Bruce Martin also took his fair share of wickets .

The centuries by Mathew Sinclair and Peter Fulton in the first Test were instrumental in the New Zealand victory in that match, while the 96 scored by Chris Harris in the third put his team into a dominant position in that game. If the weather had not intervened, the New Zealanders would have probably come home with two Test victories.

The performances in the one-day tri series with the hosts and South Africa A were not as convincing, but the New Zealanders did beat Sri Lanka A into the final.

The BLACKCAP selectors will have a difficult job picking their squad for the coming summer as a number of the NZ A team played themselves into contention during the tour.
