New Zealand Cricket announces Under-19 winter training squad

New Zealand Cricket has announced a group of 27 players to prepare for the 2010 Under-19 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in Kenya next February.

The players will participate in a training camp to be scheduled over the winter, and will also maintain individual training schedules in their own provinces. The World Cup team will be selected following the National Under-19 championship, to be held at Lincoln in December 2009-January 2010.

All 27 players will be candidates for a place in the team for the 2010 Under-19 World Cup, although final selection will not be restricted to this squad.

The New Zealand Under-19 winter training squad is:

“The training squad is a blend of experienced Under-19 players and new players, looking to make their mark at the Under-19 level,” said John Wright, New Zealand Cricket’s Elite Coaching Manager.

“Corey Anderson, Doug Bracewell, Harry Boam and Shane Gadsdon have already played first-class cricket and Anderson and Boam already have Under-19 World Cup experience.

“The Under-19 World Cup is an integral part of New Zealand Cricket’s high performance programme to create greater depth at the elite end of the game, and aims to prepare players for first-class cricket, New Zealand A sides and the BLACKCAPS.”
