New Zealand Cricket announces Under-19 winter training squad

New Zealand Cricket has announced a group of 27 players to prepare for the 2010 Under-19 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in Kenya next February.

The players will participate in a training camp to be scheduled over the winter, and will also maintain individual training schedules in their own provinces. The World Cup team will be selected following the National Under-19 championship, to be held at Lincoln in December 2009-January 2010.

All 27 players will be candidates for a place in the team for the 2010 Under-19 World Cup, although final selection will not be restricted to this squad.

“The training squad is a blend of experienced Under-19 players and new players, looking to make their mark at the Under-19 level,” said John Wright, New Zealand Cricket’s Elite Coaching Manager.

“Corey Anderson, Doug Bracewell, Harry Boam and Shane Gadsdon have already played first-class cricket and Anderson and Boam already have Under-19 World Cup experience.
