New Zealand A to tour England | Tri-series announced

New Zealand A will travel to the United Kingdom in July for a six week tour, highlighted by a One Day Tri-series against the England Lions and Sri Lanka A.

Following the Tri-series, New Zealand will use a 10 day window to play European Associate Nations who have qualified for the ICC 2015 World Cup. Their opposition will be determined following the ICC World Cup Qualifying Tournament in New Zealand this month, with the results to dictate how many games New Zealand will play and where.

They will then return to England to play Three Day matches against County teams Kent and Surrey, before heading back to New Zealand on 3 September.

New Zealand Cricket Head of Operations Lindsay Crocker says it’s been a number of years since a New Zealand A squad has toured England and believes it will provide excellent playing opportunities against several quality teams.

“With New Zealand A’s recent tour of India and Sri Lanka, we’ve put a lot of focus on giving our fringe BLACKCAPS a chance to experience touring overseas, playing in different conditions and facing quality international opponents.

“This is another part of that programme. The tour will give players a wonderful opportunity to continue their own development and push for higher honours.

“It also allows us to gauge where we stand amongst other top-tier nations, and advance the talent we have on our domestic scene.”

The New Zealand A squad is yet to be named.
