Nannes joins Wizards

Dirk Nannes, the Australia fast bowler, will play for the Canterbury Wizards in their HRV Cup match against the SKYCITY Northern Knights on Friday night.

Nannes, who is the worlds leading wicket-taker in Twenty20 cricket, had a brief stint playing for the Wizards in the 2010/2011 season. He returns for a whirlwind one game visit, but Wizards coach Gary Stead believed he will still bring immense value to the side.

"We continually see that in the shortest form of the game, Dirk is still one of the most consistently dangerous and economical bowlers on the world scene," Stead said.

"He did a fantastic job for us last time and I am delighted to welcome him back. He was a great bloke to have in the dressing room and he had a lot of advice to offer to our younger bowlers."

Nannes services are highly sought across the world, with the 36 year-old having played for sides such as Royal Challengers Bangalore, Middlesex, Delhi Daredevils and later this year the Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash.

Altogether he has taken 190 wickets from 159 T20 matches and has an economy rate 7.29.

The match is being played at Seddon Park in Hamilton and will be available to be viewed live on SKY Sport from 7:10pm Friday.
