Canterbury Cricket CEO, Lee Germon, announced today that Michael Davidson has accepted a playing contract with Canterbury Cricket for the forth coming season.
Davidson, a left arm medium fast bowler and hard hitting lower order batsman, has earned the contract following a successful season with the State Canterbury Wizards in 2007/08.Davidson played an integral part in the Wizards winning the State Championship final, taking 4 for 28 in the second innings.
Germon said that Davidson is a deserving recipient because of performances for the Wizards last season.“Michael fully deserves this contract and it shows that a player can progress through club cricket to become a fully contracted Canterbury Cricket player.”
Davidson said that after working hard toward this for many years, it is a dream come true. Davidson acknowledged the support and encouragement he has received from Canterbury Cricket, the St Albans Cricket Club, his partner Carla and his family.
Davidson’s selection completes the 12 contracted players for Canterbury Cricket this season.
