McMillan slows Aces progress

State Otago Volts’ James McMillan claimed two more wickets as State Auckland Aces’ pursuit of victory was stemmed at Dunedin’s University Oval.

McMillan followed his four-wicket haul in the first innings with two quick scalps as the visitors were restricted to 15 for two on a rain-affected day.

Auckland all-rounder Mayu Pasupati completed his own four-wicket bag as the Volts’ first innings collapsed to hand the Aces first-innings points.

From an overnight score of 130 for four, Otago fell to 199 all out, 27 runs short of their target.

Pasupati claimed four for 39, while Chris Martin took three for 95, having bowled 23 of the 60 overs in the Otago innings.

Auckland must claim a maximum-point victory to have any chance of reaching the State Championship final.
