Craig McMillan has been appointed the BLACKCAPS Batting Coach for the upcoming tour of the West Indies.
McMillan played for the BLACKCAPS from 1995 – 2007 and has since spent time with the side working on batting technique. NZC Head of Cricket Lindsay Crocker was confident that McMillan was the right man for the job.
“We had a number of strong applicants from New Zealand and abroad, but overall we felt that Craig was the best fit for the role,” said Crocker.
“Apart from being a former player himself, Craig’s worked with Canterbury Cricket and also spent some time in the BLACKCAPS camp.
“His commentary work has also given him extensive knowledge of both the BLACKCAPS and West Indies squads and those qualities placed him ahead of the other candidates.”
Someone will be named to fill the position full-time following the end of the West Indies tour.
