McCullum CLT20 Champion

BLACKCAP Nathan McCullum has become the second New Zealander to win the Champions League Twenty20 title, helping the Sydney Sixers beat home side the Lions in South Africa.

The Sixers dominated the final to complete a ten wicket thrashing. The win was their sixth on the trot, as they finished the tournament undefeated.

McCullum, who also plays for the Otago Volts, proved a valuable asset for the Australian side with three wickets from his four overs for 24. The crafty spinner opened the bowling and picked up a wicket off his fourth ball.

He snared two more at pivotal moments and assisted his side in dismissing the Lions for 121 after exactly 20 overs.

He wasn’t required with the bat, as openers Brad Haddin and Michael Lumb smashed the required runs off just 12.3 overs.

McCullum has now flown over to join his BLACKCAP team mates in Sri Lanka ahead of the start of their tour Wednesday morning (NZ time).

James Frannklin was the first player to win the CLT20 in 2011 with the Mumbai Indians.
