Mitch takes three wickets in Mumbai win, while McCullum takes MOTM with 66 from 44.

McClenaghan starting to make his mark on IPL

In a busy night for the New Zealanders in the Indian Premier League, Mitchell McClenaghan took 3-20 from his four overs against the Sun Risers, including the dangerous Shikhar Dhawan when he was on 42 from 29 balls and looking set to push on.

Mitch told IPLT20.com that he's starting to feel at home in the big league, after this performance and taking 2-38 against the Dehli Daredevils earlier in the week: "Me and Malinga share a lot of bowling plans with each other. We have a thorough bowling meeting with Shane Bond who puts everything out clearly. It is great to be in a room full of bowlers -which has the likes of Harbhajan Singh, Bond and Malinga - who have got so much international experience. They have so much knowledge that they can share that you are always learning and that is what I love about this game and the side.

"I have worked with Shane Bond for three years now and I can’t speak more highly of the man. He is so organized in his work and he is someone who is always there when you want someone to talk about stuff. He is a great acquisition to Mumbai Indians and if we get a prolonged period under him, we will learn, evolve and we will get better."

This is McClenaghan's debut here and he's enjoying being one of the NZ IPL club at last: "It is like a little Kiwi club out there! They have these stories to talk about IPL back home and I have always loved watching the guys perform overseas. Now being a part of the IPL I kind of feel a good connect with my New Zealand guys. We are brothers and we spend most of the year together. It has definitely made my transition into the IPL a lot easier knowing that I can talk to those guys about their experiences in the past. Particularly having Corey Anderson in the Mumbai Indians side, who experienced it last year, has been very helpful."

Boult took no wickets despite getting good shape though the air, conceding 27 runs from his four overs, arguably a good return in a competition where the bowlers can take serious punishment.

Brendon McCullum took man of the match honours for the Chennai Super Kings with 66 from 44 in their 97 run win over the Kings XI Punjab over night. He rode his luck, nicking his first ball between Keeper and first slip for four, then being dropped by Mitchell Johnson when on 21, then again on 59 by the same player. He made a 50 run partnership with Dwayne Smith in just 4.4 overs, and brought up his 50 with a six from the unlucky Johnson.

Trent Boult came back into the Sunrisers Hyderabad side, alongside Dayle Steyn, but the dangerous pair couldn't prevent the Mumbai Indians, who are coming back into the competition, winning by 20 runs.

The Super Kings are top of the table alongside Tim Southee's Rajasthan Royals, despite having played a game less.

Unfortunately Adam Milne (heel) and Corey Anderson (thumb) are heading home from the IPL with niggles, which will be assessed on their return to New Zealand. Colin Munro is reportedly set to join the Mumbai Indians shortly.
