Brian Lara is in line to skipper the West Indies for a third time following Shivnarine Chanderpaul's resignation on Tuesday.
Lara is under consideration according to chairman of selectors Joey Carew, along with wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin, Chris Gayle, Daren Ganga, Sylvester Joseph and long-time vice captain Ramnaresh Sarwan..jpg)
Carew added the selectors are hoping to make a decision on Sunday, which they can then forward to the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).
"Ultimately we are looking for a leader on and off the field of play," he told AP.
"We are looking toward the 2007 World Cup and trying to find a man who can take on the challenge of leading the West Indies to a World Cup triumph at home."
Chanderpaul had led the side for 12 months, replacing Lara, who had been captain since April 2003. He also skippered the team from February 1998 to late 1999.
Chanderpaul led his side to one win, 10 defeats, and three draws in 14 Tests.
It is the seventh time in the past nine years that the WICB has had to consider a captaincy change.
