Kolkata can still make last four, Hyderabad and Chennai on the charge

Kolkata co-owner Shah Rukh Khan is still sure of his side qualifying for the semi-finals despite a tricky points table.

"(I) have no idea on run rates etc. but hope we can give KKR followers something to cheer about tomorrow. Last match at home. Will miss it all," tweeted the superstar.

"Win at last. Love to be here. The Eden Gardens has always been a wonderful place to play cricket. The crowd here has always been warm. But we as a team didn't do enough to make them happy perhaps. Hope to do better," SRK hoped.

Kolkata skipper Sourav Ganguly, who had drawn a lot of flak for his side's inconsistency found support in the superstar.

"Dada (Sourav Ganguly)! That's the only superlative I can use for him perhaps. He is a national hero, a legend and very hardworking. He's always ready for a comeback. Isn't it?"

"When I'm disappointed with my team I bring it out through twitter. People misconstrue, I feel. KKR players are like my own children to me. So I feel I have the right to be upset with things if they don't go our way. Isn't it?"

Hyderabad charge into last four

Hyderabad confirmed their spot in the semi-finals of the IPL with a closely-fought 11-run victory over Delhi at the Feroz Shah Kotla.

Hyderabad won an important toss, but Andrew Symonds' 54 was the only contribution of note in a total of 145 for seven.

Delhi then lost their way with the chase until excellent rearguard action from Paul Collingwood (51 not out) and his unbeaten 48-run stand with Ashish Nehra (22 not out) brought them close, but Hyderabad proved too good and Delhi were restricted to 134 for seven.

The victory took Hyderabad to second spot in the table behind Mumbai, while it also confirmed Chennai's place in the last four.

Needing victory to progress, Hyderabad suffered batting collapses on either side of Symonds' innings and were left defending a modest total on a pitch that has favoured teams batting first.

Adam Gilchrist made only 10 before he miscued a pull shot off Nehra and presented Gautam Gambhir with a comfortable catch in the covers.

Tirumalasetti Suman, who has shown excellent form of late, also went cheaply while Rohit Sharma, who had promised much with consecutive boundaries in his brief stay, was Umesh Yadav's second victim in as many overs as Hyderabad crashed to 47 for three.

Other opener Monish Mishra was run out for 25 in the ninth over, a dismissal which brought Symonds and Mitchell Marsh together.

Symonds immediately lifted the pace, smashing a boundary off the first ball he faced and hoisting Amit Mishra for a six over long-off before settling down to play a solid innings.

Symonds hit three boundaries and an astonishing five sixes in his 30-delivery stay, but his dismissal in the 15th over took the steam out of Hyderabad.

Marsh, who had merely held up one end in the partnership with Symonds, shared the new ball with Chaminda Vaas and gave his side an early breakthrough by removing David Warner for five.

Rohit, who had juggled the catch offered by Warner before grasping it, then took a brilliant catch at slip to remove Virender Sehwag and Delhi slipped further into trouble when Tillakaratne Dilshan was trapped in front by Harmeet Singh.

When Gambhir fell to Pragyan Ojha in the seventh over, it all but halted the Delhi chase but stiff resistance from Mithun Manhas (23) and Collingwood later still kept them in with a faint chance.

Collingwood, battling with the tail, brought the equation down to 47 off the last four overs and then survived a lucky reprieve while on 36 and was grassed again in the next over by Symonds in the deep as he attempted to accelerate.

With Nehra chipping in with timely blows, Delhi added 29 more to the total leaving them requiring 17 off the final over.

Vaas, however, conceded only five to see Hyderabad through.

Dhoni assault wins it for Chennai

MS Dhoni and Subramaniam Badrinath smashed half-centuries as Chennai sealed a six-wicket IPL victory over Mohali at Dharamsala.

Shaun Marsh made Chennai pay dearly for lapses in the field as he smashed an unbeaten 88 and, with excellent support from Irfan Pathan (44 not out) and Kumar Sangakkara (33), powered Kings XI to a formidable 192 for three.

In reply, Badrinath (53) and Suresh Raina (46) kept Mohali in the hunt before Dhoni (54 not out) finished off the chase with a couple of towering sixes.

The victory, with two deliveries to spare, lifts Chennai to second in the table and their superior net run rate all but assures them of a place in the semi-final later this week.

Mohali signalled aggressive intent at the start and maintained the tempo thanks to some poor fielding from Mohali.

Mahela Jayawardene smashed Sudeep Tyagi for two sixes in the first over and went on contribute 21 in an opening stand worth 34 before Tyagi took an outstanding catch at the mid-on to remove the Sri Lanka batsman.

Albie Morkel, however, put down a far more simple catch from Marsh in the next over while the batsman was on 10, a missed opportunity which proved costly for Mohali.

Marsh and Sangakkara rebuilt nicely and got Mohali close to the 100-run mark with a 56-run stand for the second wicket.

Sangakkara found the boundaries regularly and had looked in supreme touch until he went down on one knee to swipe off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin across the line, missed completely and was bowled.

Yuvraj Singh's cheap dismissal then gave Mohali a glimmer of hope, but Pathan quickly closed the door with a solid batting performance which helped Mohali to a strong total.

Marsh, who was dropped again at the start of the 19th over, put on 99 with Pathan and en route reached his seventh IPL half-century with a towering six off Raina.

Ramesh Powar then gave Mohali a strong start in the field by removing Matthew Hayden for five in his second over with the new ball.

Powar struck again in his next over to get rid of the other opener, Murali Vijay, but Raina and Badrinath revived the chase with a 62-run stand.

Raina hit three sixes and five fours and perished attempting a big shot off Juan Theron in the 10th over, but Badrinath forged on and together with Dhoni kept Chennai in contention.

Badrinath fell just after reaching his half-century and the Super Kings were left needing 45 from 20 deliveries at that stage.

Dhoni, however, upped the tempo and unleashed an array of attacking strokes as Chennai raced across the line.
