The Yahoo! NZ Northern Knights will have three captains during the2011-12 season.
Incumbent captain James Marshall will continue to lead the team during the men’s one-day competition, Brad Wilson will captain the team for the Plunket Shield campaign and Scott Styris will lead the Knights throughout the HRV Cup campaign.
Knights’ Coach Grant Bradburn has recognised the demands placed on captaincy across all three campaigns. “The innovation of three separate captains allows each an opportunity to bring leadership skills to one campaign, while also providing time to focus on their core role of scoring runs.”
CEO David Cooper agreed “The Knights are blessed with vast experience in leadership skills. We have three outstanding, experienced men who will lead our Knights throughout this season, each offering a unique freshness in their approach.”
Wilson had a warm up to the captaincy towards the end of last season and Styris has been a leader in the team since returning to the Knights for the 2010-11 season.
