Kallis sinks Otago Volts

Indian Premier League team the Bangalore Royal Challengers have knocked out the Otago Volts from the Champions League in India with an 80 run win.

South African Jacques Kallis blasted an unbeaten half century with the bat before ripping through the Volts top order with the ball to singlehandedly sink the Volts.

Ross Taylor played his part lashing 32 off 11 balls with Kallis ending with 73 off 59 to take the Bangalore Royal Challengers total through to a formidable 188 for two.

Kallis then took the new ball and had Otago’s top three batsmen back in the pavilion inside six overs, eventually finishing with figures of three for 18 off four overs.

Otago Captain Craig Cumming put up some resistance with 20 off 17 but the star studded IPL team was too good bowling Otago out for 108 in the eighteenth over.

This follows their loss to South African team the Cape Cobras earlier in the competition meaning they can’t progress to the second round of the tournament.

Short scorecard:

Royal Challengers Bangalore 188 (Kallis 73, Uthappa 42, Kohli 32, Taylor 32, Wagner 1/27, Redmond 1/23) beatOtago Volts 108 (Cumming 20, Kallis 3/18, Kumar 2/20, Kumble 2/20)
