Otago Cricket today confirmed that former New Zealand Under 19 and Auckland all-rounder Jimmy Neesham will transfer to Otago for the 2011-12 season. Neesham has been a New Zealand Under 19 representative and has had a couple of seasons in the Auckland environment where he has played all three formats of the game at Domestic level.
Otago Volts coach Vaughn Johnson said: “We welcome Jimmy because we feel he is a player with some x-factor and a guy who can add something in terms of depth and competition for places within our squad. We also have an eye to the future and in regards to succession planning we believe Jimmy is an exciting prospect”.
Neesham is considered a batting all-rounder. He bats left handed and is known for his hard hitting and ability to hit the ball out of the park. As a bowler he is right arm medium fast and is described as player who is able to hit a hard and heavy awkward length.
