Sri Lanka's one-day stranglehold over England continued at Old Trafford as it cruised to a 33-run win in the fourth one-day international.
Sri Lanka scored 318-7 and then dismissed England for 285 in the 49th over.
The Sri Lankan effort was led by its inspired captain Mahela Jayawardene who hit his second century of the series, being caught and bowled by Jamie Dalrymple for the neat100 which was scored off 83 balls.
Having joined Upul Tharanga after the loss of Sanath Jayasuriya for 14 when the score was 23, the pair added another 137 runs before Tharanga was dismissed, again by Dalrymple, in the 25th over for 60.
And while Kumar Sangakkara, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Russel Arnold all scored seven runs, Jayawardene was in full flight in getting the side to 220 before he was the sixth batsman dismissed, falling in the 37th over.
But there was no slackening in the Sri Lankan scoring as Farveez Maharoof hit 58 not out off 50 balls, and Malinga Bandara scored 28 not out from 22 balls.
Dalrymple was one of the few England bowlers to escape punishing, completing his 10 overs and taking 2-44.
It was generally a wayward display by the others with 21 wides conceded, along with three no-balls. Steve Harmison had 2-51 from 10 but Kabir Ali was flogged for 77 from his 10.
Liam Plunkett conceded 60 off nine while taking two wickets and Tim Brsnan had 0-58 from his eight overs.
England's scoreboard was notable for its consistency, right through the order, but none scored higher than Andrew Strauss' 45.
Marcus Trescothick (44) and Alistair Cook (39) put on 77 for the first wicket in 12 overs and when Strauss was dismissed off the last ball of the 28th over, England still had a chance at 161-3.
However, it lacked an anchor through the last 10 overs, and the Sri Lanka attack, minus Muttiah Muralitharan, took control with Bandara taking 2-43 from his 10 and Dilshan 2-46 from 10.
Good fielding also produced two run outs in the latter stages as England attempted to keep its scoring momentum going.
